Intro to Pages -- the New Mavericks Version with Kathy Shirley Pages can make all of your writing creative -- no matter what the subject. Creativity and communication are a breeze when students use Pages to express themselves. Writing becomes verbal, visual, and always artistic using this full-featured word processor. You’ll learn about some of the new features in the operating system called Mavericks, as well as some of the new features in the Mac Applications. I’ll show you how to connect your laptop to your classroom projector, and how to enhance your lessons to engage all students in 21st Century learning. This will be a hands-on session with time to explore. You’ll learn how to assign schoolwork, add Common Core standards, grade it, and give students feedback. Options for sharing schoolwork with colleagues will be discussed. But did you know that flipping a lesson is so much more than having students access a video at home? In this session you will find the answers to these questions: What is a flipped lesson? How can I use Schoolwork to effectively deliver "flipped" lessons? How can I create a Schoolwork assignment with a video? What are some resources to create my own videos? How can I gain formative assessment information to drive what I do when students return to class? Prerequisite: Be able to log into your MBC account. Ask your students to do that on their iPads! There are a wide variety of FREE screencasting apps and it’s a great way to assess student thinking plus it can be a great teacher resource, too. This session will take you through screencasting 101 and will leave you with a final screencast and a plan for using this successfully in your classroom!
