Please read this important information from Kathy Shirley about the new certificated laptops, coming soon!

Dear teachers and other certificated staff,

Why did we purchase new laptops?

The majority of funding for these laptops came from the one-time Common Core dollars we received. There are three categories of spending available for that one-time funding: instructional materials, technology, and professional development. To determine how to spend this money, the Teacher Support Group (composed of half teachers and half administrators) surveyed certificated staff. Based on the survey results, staff indicated about 1/3 (1.17 million) of the money should go to purchase technology. Additionally, input from staff, parents, and community members included technology as a top priority. As a result, the decision was made to purchase laptops for certificated staff who did not have a laptop two years or newer.  We have purchased the laptops and are in the process of readying them for imaging and distribution. Having a laptop is essential for 21st Century teaching and learning.

Resource site

We have created a resource site to assist you with your new laptop.  We will continue to update and add resources as needed.  Please take a look here!

On that site is also a link to a Frequently Asked Questions page. On that page, you will find answers to questions such as the type of equipment you are receiving and the distribution plan.

If you have questions, please contact your Technology Resource Teacher first, as we have gone over this information extensively with them.  If your TRT can’t answer your question, please feel free to email me.

We are very excited and are hoping to get these laptops in people’s hands prior to summer, so watch for the distribution schedule soon!
