For the first time in many years, we would like to encourage new people to apply to
Project LIVE, an award-winning  group of dedicated and creative teachers who, for the past 12 years, have used digital video with their students as a tool to increase communication skills, creativity, and critical thinking. Filmmaking is the ultimate “project based learning”. And filmmaking mimics closely the writing process, only it’s a lot more fun.

If this sounds interesting to you and you’d like to apply, here’s what you would need going in:

  • A new (or recent) district-supplied MacBook Pro with the newest version of iMovie (we can help you get that if it’s not already on the laptop). If it’s not in your possession, but coming, that’s fine.

  • Confidence working in a Mac environment (not a pro; just comfortable).

  • Ideally, some familiarity with at least some of the iLife/iWork apps (iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, etc.).

  • Availability for ALL of these dates: August 29 [3:30-7:30 so you can receive and become acquainted with your stuff], Sept. 8 [3:30-5:30], Oct. 6 [3:30-5:30], Nov. 3 [3:30-5:30], Dec. 8 [3:30-5:30], Jan.12 [3:30-5:30], Feb. 9 [3:30-5:30].

  • A willingness to learn new things in a collegial environment

  • Completion of at least two videos, the second of which must be a student-made product (of course, with your appropriate support and guidance) that will be submitted to the iVIE Awards (a county-wide film festival for K-12 students held in the spring).

If you think you would be a good candidate for Project LIVE, click on the application link below and submit by June 13. In return for your hard work, we will provide you with:

  • The opportunity to work with a dedicated and creative group of fellow educators

  • The chance to learn a new and exciting way to communicate

  • A high quality High Definition Camcorder and necessary peripherals (case, media card, tripod, etc.) for filming your masterpieces

  • A portable external drive to store your footage and projects on (digital video files are huge, and can quickly consume your laptop’s space)

  • Lots of training on how to effectively use the hardware and the software to create high quality digital videos

To apply, submit the following (very short) form by June 13, 2014:
