Technology: Diving Deeper into Compass Learning

Presenter: Gina Baldwin

Are you interested in creating specific Compass Learning assignments that align with units you are teaching your class? Would you like to incorporate a Compass Writer activity in grades 3-8? Join others interested in taking the next step Compass Learning.

Prerequisite: Beginning knowledge and use of Compass Learning with your class.

Who should attend this session? Teachers interested in utilizing Compass Learning as a tool beyond prebuilt NWEA paths.

Materials needed: Teacher laptop, Planbook, Applicable prompts, Websites, Writing Resources you’d like to incorporate.

Technology: Creating a Google Website for Your Classroom

Presenter: Michele Lopez, Math and Tech TOSA Juniper Elementary

Want to create a class website, but don't know where to begin?  Please join us to go step by step through the process of creating one and have a few essential elements.

Prerequisite: None, acquainted with Google Apps would be helpful.

Who should attend this session? Teachers interested learning how to create their own website for sharing information with other teachers, parents, and the public.

Materials needed: Teacher laptop.  Pre-think what you'd like to share about yourself, your classroom and your school.  Bring a draft with ideas and we will work to incorporate those ideas. I will provide samples.

Technology: Comic Life

Presenter: Michele Lopez, Math and Tech TOSA Juniper Elementary

We've got it on all our Macs, now let's find out how to use it!  Will show you the basics, and share ideas for how to use it with your curriculum across grade levels.

Prerequisite: None.

Who should attend this session? Teachers wanting to give students some variety in how they represent their thinking and learning, and a creative way to present it to peers.

Materials needed: Teacher laptop.  I will provide samples.

Technology: Reflector 2 - Best Practices

Presenter: Michele Lopez, Math and Tech TOSA Juniper Elementary

With all the updates to operating systems and apps, we now need to purchase and then see what's new with Reflector 2.  This downloadable program allows students or anyone else with an iOs device to connect and present from your laptop.  This class will be a hands on overview of what is new and improved, and how you can use it in your classroom to amp up student engagement and access to multi-media enhanced curriculum.  

Prerequisite: Before arriving you should purchase the app using this code and link.

Technology: Twitter for the Beginner

Presenter: Michele Lopez, Math and Tech TOSA Juniper Elementary

Do you ever wonder "what the heck is a tweet, and why do I care?"  If so, please join us.  I will help you set up a Twitter account, learn the basics, and give you some time to explore.  I use it for PD and to find things to share with my staff regarding CCSS, explaining thinking (our problem of practice) and topics I'm considering teaching students (like coding).

Prerequisite: None.

Who should attend this session? Teachers who are curious about Twitter!

Materials needed: Teacher laptop and an iOS device.
