Please read this important information from Kathy Shirley about the new certificated laptops, coming soon!

Dear certificated staff,

Technology Services has been feverishly working on inventorying, imaging, and tagging the new certificated laptops for distribution.  We have spent several weeks ensuring you have a great experience with your new laptop, and are pleased to announce we are ready to begin the distribution process this Monday, June 2.  As you can imagine, organizing the distribution of 900+ computers to individual employees takes a bit of patience and thought, so please read through this information carefully, so that you know what to expect.  We are making every effort to get the laptops distributed prior to the end of the school year.

Schedule

The first two sites ready for distribution are Miller and Hidden Valley.  We should have the remaining schedule of sites out sometime tomorrow.  Eligible Miller and Hidden Valley staff can come to the Maple Room at the Ed. Center on either Monday, June 2nd, or Tuesday, June 3rd between the hours of 2:00-5:00 p.m. to pick up their new laptops.  Your Principal and Office Manager have a list of eligible staff.  If a staff member is unable to come during those days/times, a make-up schedule will be forthcoming.

**All Principals and Office Managers will have a list of eligible staff by the end of today.

What to Expect

  • You must bring identification with you for verification.

  • You must pick up your laptop in person, so that we can properly authenticate you to our new Active Directory system.  Colleagues will not be able to pick up your laptop for you.

  • You will visit several stations in the Maple Room:

    • ID verification and loan agreement paperwork

    • Laptop pickup (which includes power adapter and VGA dongle)

    • Initial login and authentication  (same as your  district email account)

    • Help Desk (only if your account needs to be reset)

    • Carrying case pick-up

  • You will not need to return your old laptop to your site until the week of August 13 for reimaging/repurposing or surplus. Special program laptops (iREAD or Project LIVE) do not need to be surrendered -- you can keep both.

We STRONGLY urge you to label your new equipment with luggage tags or tasteful, small labels, as everyone will have the same equipment and case!

Resource site

We have created a resource site to assist you with your new laptop.  We will continue to update and add resources as needed.  Please take a look here! And….don’t forget to get your files backed up and transferred to your new laptop by August 13th.

We are excited by this opportunity and look forward to providing this new tool to EUSD’s certificated staff!
